To do that, you have a page called “ List of my theories” gathering main posts and you can also do a quick browse through the search bar or a character’s tag. Answering asks can be time consuming so I would really appreciate it if you could do a really quick search before asking :) (unless you’re asking because you need more explanations on a subject that was addressed recently or you want to share your thoughts).I get that new licensed chapters might not be accessible to all countries, but eventually a link shows up in the tags or an uploaded version appears on usual reading sites, so please just search by yourself.Īlso please try to make sure I haven’t already answered your question recently before asking: Don’t send an ask about where to read the newest scanlated chapters, especially when they’re licensed. If you don’t know what “original work” means, please refer to the FAQ page. No message full of hatred, insults or name-callings, be it about characters, ships, theories, me or other bloggers. Therefore, I could honestly see this second possibility as likely…Īlthough it could also be that she didn’t mean anything by this, as, in a manga, especially, you need things to visually differentiate characters, so it could be just some sort of design…īut I still find it interesting. I don’t think Undertaker’s scythe can be stopped, though… nope. Not to mention how, no matter how flashy and modern, Will, Grelle and Ronald’s death scythes are much less practical than Undertaker’s. William’s reaction to Ronald’s death scythe also hints at this sort of generation gap… Then, with time, they evolved, they changed. Not exactly like that, maybe, but similar. Don’t get me wrong, whether she meant it or not, his death scythe appears to be the most impressive as well, and the most dangerous.Ĭould it be a hint at his age? At the fact that he might be very, very old? Sort of part of the OG reapers? Maybe all death scythes, back in his time, were similar to that. She had enough time to think of an awesome weapon, and yet she didn’t. Is it because, when sensei first made Black butler, she followed the norms of a grim reaper? I mean, it could be, but she still only gave him the scythe late in the manga. Why is Undertaker different, then? Or why is he the only one not different? Why is he so similar to our common perception of a grim reaper? These are absolutely not things which you’d expect as a death scythe… and the people who carry them do not look like grim reapers at all. He’s even got scars that make him appear more dangerous.įor comparison purposes, William has a pruner, Ronald has a lawnmower. Tall, wearing long, large, black clothes, and carrying a huge scythe. Undertaker is the exact personification of that. Since the old times, there is this popular belief that “death will come with a scythe” This is still very popular at least in my country. A tall figure, often a skeleton, dressed in black, with a scythe that’s said to reap the souls of the humans. If you were to search for images of a grim reaper, regularly, that’s what you’d get. This is a thought I’ll come back to (and maybe others have already discussed), but have you ever considered that Undertaker is the only reaper-like reaper in Black butler, with the only death scythe that we would normally associate to grim reapers?
